I was in class recently and a teacher was talking about our intellectual levels and capacities. An IQ is a measure of how well you do on a test compared with other people your age. The average score is 100. People to the far left or far right of the curve are outliers. It was found the average person will be within a few IQ points of their parents. So if your parents have an IQ of 100 you may be in the 98-102 range. So basically no matter how hard you try more than likely you will not push past a predetermined IQ level. For most of us that means we remain just ordinary, average. This didn’t sit well with me. This test says, “Your ordinary, average with no real chance of changing the circumstances you where born into.”

As this thought rolled around in my mind most of the day I began to think of our spiritual potential. The world says to us that we have no hope. We will always be who we are. We will always struggle with what we always struggle with. We will never be able to change. Your just another statistic. But GOD.

When God steps in, He changes everything. He changes your heredity. How amazing is it that our heavenly father has all wisdom, all power, all authority and we are his children! We have inherited the power to be extraordinary. To go beyond the ordinary and be what he has called us to be. On our own we are average but with God our potential is extraordinary.

Why not start to ask God to help you renew those dreams He has given to you that you thought where too big or too scary and start pushing past what the world expects you to be and be what God expects you to be. This world is hurting and needs a generation to step up and be a light in the darkness. I pray God opens doors for you and stirs up a desire to reach the hurting. I pray He would give you a boldness to do great things!

(Isaiah 61:1-3 NIV) The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, {2} to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, {3} and provide for those who grieve in Zion– to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

Each of us is called to preach his good news, to help the hurting, and to show God to our communities. Why not start that p7 club at your school or bible study with your coworker? Push past ordinary, be an “outlier” of this world’s statistics. He’s called you to greatness. Will you answer the call?
