When we allow fear to creep into our lives we are not only limiting ourselves, but also God!

I am one that deals with fear from time to time, especially in ministry. I did not grow up in the church, I didn’t have parents at home that went to church, or had any form of relationship with God. I didn’t go to Sunday school and learn all the cute kid songs and hear all the exciting Bible stories. And because of those few things, there was a moment that I allowed fear to impair my ability to live out the calling God had for me.

Then it hit me, it’s a pretty simple thought or idea. But I realized I had been putting my confidence in the WRONG person. I was trying to depend on my past experiences to do God’s work, as I kept saying if only I was in church my whole life, I would know what to do with this situation, or if only I knew more of the Bible, I could speak into someone’s life. I was so worried about doing it “wrong” that I wouldn’t do anything at all, which is exactly what the enemy wants us to do. The truth is, When we put our confidence in God we can truly do anything, regardless of our past, regardless if we are being raised in a family that attends church. God can do ANYTHING! When we put our confidence in God we wont fear if we are doing things the “wrong” way because we are relying on God to direct us rather than our past experiences, or our own knowledge.

Proverbs 3:26
For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

The definition of confidence is: the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust.

When we rely on God, put our FIRM TRUST in Him there is nothing we cannot do even if it is something completely new to us! You may think so and so has a better chance of succeeding in ministry, just based upon their family situation, or they have more connections than you do, or they’re more popular than you. We don’t have to worry about any of that, if we just put our confidence in God, He will do the REST!

One might ask how do we put our total confidence in God? The answer is simple: prayer and reading your Bible! If you have a strong and close relationship with God through prayer and reading His Word your confidence in Him will naturally grow. That is what God is calling this generation to do, to develop their own relationship with the Creator of everything! He is wanting us to be like a Peter and step out in faith, knowing that when we trust, and put our confidence in God, the impossible becomes possible!

God does not want us to fear because it impairs our ability to live out extraordinary
– Jennifer Smith

If we put our confidence in God and not in ourselves there is absolutely nothing we cannot do regardless of our past experiences. With our confidence in God there is no reason to fear doing His work and living out that extraordinary life that He wants for us!
